An exciting time to be a new voter
Can you believe the village elections are in less than a month? That’s right; April 9 is the day on which the citizens of the Lilac Village will head to the voting booths and vote for village president, village clerk, and trustees for Districts 1, 3, and 6.
While there is a great deal of media attention placed on general elections, municipal elections actually give voters a “louder voice” because there are fewer people voting for each office. While all American voters may vote for president of the United States, only voters living in Lombard may vote for the village president of Lombard.
Personally, this is a very exciting election for me because this is the first time I have been old enough to vote. Last week, three of my friends and I went to the Lombard Village Hall to register to vote, and we could not have been more excited. Finally, we get to have a say in who represents us and our opinions.
