Glenbard West seeks participants, donations for annual Brave the Shave event
GLEN ELLYN — Glenbard West High School is partnering with the St. Baldrick's Foundation to raise money for childhood cancer research through the school's third annual Brave the Shave.
As part of the event, Glenbard West staff members and students will have their heads shaved to show support for children with cancer while gathering donations from others in the community.
The school raised $10,000 through its previous two Brave the Shave events.
The event will take place at 2 p.m. Monday in the Glenbard West auditorium, 670 Crescent Blvd. in Glen Ellyn.
Staff members signed up to participate include Kyle Nugent, Rick Kotrba, Mark Staron, Mike Kolodziej, Steve Wiersum, Dan Haswell, Sean Byrne and Jon Schweighardt. Many students will have their heads shaved by Linea Salon in Glen Ellyn as well.

Glenbard West also is part of a Brave the Shave contest sponsored by Fox 32 News Chicago. If the school receives the most online votes via Facebook, the station will broadcast its morning news live from Glenbard West.
