West Chicago resident charged with criminal sexual assault
WEST CHICAGO — DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert B. Berlin announced March 4 that Jose Ramirez-Alcantar, 61, of West Chicago has been charged with one count of criminal sexual assault, a Class 1 felony. Ramirez-Alcantar appeared in bond court this week where Judge Brian Diamond set his bail at $200,000 with 10 percent to apply.
At about 2:18 a.m. March 3, West Chicago police officers responded to an unrelated 911 call reporting that someone had broken in to Ramirez-Alcantar’s home. Upon their arrival, officers allegedly found Ramirez-Alcantar in the act of sexually assaulting an adult female acquaintance. Ramirez-Alcantar was immediately arrested and taken into custody.
“My office stands ready to prosecute any sexual assault to the fullest extent of the law,” Berlin said. “No one should have to endure the physical and emotional pain of a sexual assault. I would like to thank Assistant State’s Attorney Mandy Meindl for her work on this case as well as the West Chicago Police Department for their quick response and apprehension of Mr. Ramirez-Alcantar.”
