St. Pius students research family history
LOMBARD — For the past few weeks, eighth-grade students at Lombard's St. Pius X Parish School studied immigration, and in connection with their studies, each student was responsible for researching his or her family's history.
Students in Amy Georgitsis's social studies class presented information about their family's history to their classmates. The presentations discussed when and why students' ancestors immigrated to America and where they originally lived.
"This project served as a culmination to our immigration unit," Georgitsis said. "I assigned the research paper so the students could interview family members to discover their own immigration story."
