Glen Ellyn to seek public input at Crescent Boulevard open house

Published: Friday, March 1, 2013 3:45 p.m. CDT

GLEN ELLYN — The village of Glen Ellyn will host an open house Tuesday to gather public input on a series of proposed improvements to Crescent Boulevard between Park Boulevard and Riford Road.

Improvements being considered include:

• Realignment of Crescent Boulevard at Park Boulevard; • A traffic signal at Crescent and Park; • A multi-use path between Park and Ellyn Avenue; • New parallel parking between Park and Ellyn; • New medians, possibly including landscaping; • New sidewalks and parking lanes between Ellyn and Park Row; and • Intersection improvements at Crescent Boulevard/Crescent Court.

These improvements are in addition to the Crescent Boulevard sidewalk extension project that was delayed in November mainly due to weather considerations. At that time, underground work for the project had been completed, and the work zone was readied for winter.

The approved portion of the sidewalk project is still set to be poured this spring, Village President Mark Pfefferman said in an email to Crescent Boulevard residents. The exact date of sidewalk installation is yet to be determined based on weather and the project itself.

Before the sidewalk is installed, village officials will be meeting with Crescent Boulevard residents to gauge continued interest and feasibility of extending the sidewalk all the way to the Lombard border, Pfefferman said.

The open house regarding additional improvements to Crescent Boulevard will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. on the third floor of the Glen Ellyn Civic Center, 535 Duane St.

The open house will feature exhibits and an audio/visual presentation that will be shown about every 15 minutes. Project team members will be present to discuss the project and answer any questions.
