The Hinsdale Fire Department and several other units responded to a house fire Thursday morning at 942 South Bruner St. Firemen rescued a woman from inside and she was taken to Adventist Hinsdale Hospital.

HINSDALE — A woman in Hinsdale was taken to Adventist Hinsdale Hospital early Thursday morning after a resident called in to report his house was on fire.

About 3:51 a.m. Thursday, the Southwest Central Dispatch 911 center received a call from a resident at 942 South Bruner St. who reported that his house was on fire.

Firefighters reported flames and heavy smoke coming from the front of the house, and one of the residents of the home was standing in the driveway stating that his mother was still inside.

Hinsdale Fire Capt. Dave DeWolf immediately requested assistance from fire crews of several neighboring departments to help battle the blaze. The victim was unresponsive when found in the living room, but efforts to revive her outside were successful and she was taken to Adventist Hinsdale Hospital in an unknown condition.

The son also was taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation.

The fire was located in the basement, first floor and second-floor hallway. Crews also ventilated smoke from the home and checked to make sure the fire was completely out.

Fire units from Clarendon Hills, Westmont, Western Springs, Downers Grove, Tri State, La Grange, La Grange Park, Pleasantview, Darien-Woodridge, Riverside and Lyons assisted Hinsdale’s fire crews. Paramedics from Oak Brook, Oakbrook Terrace and Lemont also assisted at the scene.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation but appears accidental and not suspicious in nature, fire officials said. An damage estimate was not immediately known.
