Letter: Elmhurst determined to drive seniors out of town

Published: Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013 9:29 a.m. CDT

To the Editor:

Here we go again; stick it to the senior citizens in Elmhurst.

First in 2012, let’s double their vehicle sticker prices. If you have a B plate, let’s triple it.

Now its 2013. Let’s give them refuse carts that they don’t need. Seniors could fill them once a month; seniors don’t have tons of garbage. And only charge them $14.93 a month — that’s $179.16 a year that we can’t afford on our fixed incomes, not even a senior citizen discount.

Why didn’t we have a choice whether we want this or not? If Elmhurst is trying to push the seniors out, they are doing a good job.
