Frank Wurster: Residents invited to Downers Grove Township’s open house
Downers Grove Township is one of the nine townships in DuPage County. It is the largest township in the county, both in terms of area and population.
Pierce Downer, from whom it derived its name, settled Downers Grove Township in 1832. The principal villages of this township at that point in time were Hinsdale, Downers Grove, Clarendon Hills and Fullersburg. Today, the township consists of Hinsdale, Clarendon Hills, Willowbrook, Burr Ridge, Westmont, Darien, Downers Grove and parts of Lemont and Woodridge.
Local Government Week is a time to put a face to local government staff and elected officials. It is a time to promote the importance of local government to the community and see what the township has to offer its residents.
