Elmhurst Police say Sunday death of 46-year-old man was accidental

ELMHURST — The death of a 46-year-old Elmhurst man in his home Sunday has been ruled accidental, according to Elmhurst Police Chief Michael Ruth.
Ruth said the investigation revealed that the man had some partial paralysis and other medical conditions, and fell down a flight of stairs from the second floor of a residential bungalow at 757 S. York St.
Police were dispatched at 6:35 p.m. Sunday to the residence on a report of an unresponsive man inside the home. When officers arrived, they discovered the body without signs of life.
The body was taken to Elmhurst Memorial Healthcare and pronounced dead at 7:15 p.m., according to Ruth.
The DuPage County Coroner said the man died as a result of neck and spinal injuries sustained as a result of the fall.
