Police: Downers Grove boy approached by suspicious man

DOWNERS GROVE — Police are investigating a report of a suspicious man who approached a 13-year-old near Saratoga and Ogden avenues early Monday morning.

About 8:05 a.m. the boy was walking to school near Westbrook West Condos, 4250 Saratoga Ave., when a vehicle driven by a lone male approached. The man rolled down his window and offered him a ride, Downers Grove police say. The boy immediately fled the area on foot, according to police.

The suspect was described as a Hispanic man about 50 years old with a gray mustache and dark spots under his eyes. He was reportedly wearing a tan jacket. The vehicle he was driving was possibly a light blue four-door Buick or Mercury with damage on the driver’s side trunk.
