District 113A holds special meeting Tuesday to discuss payments to the state, strategic plan
LEMONT — District 113A will hold a special meeting Tuesday to continue discussion on payments to the state for unallowable reimbursement claims.
During the Jan. 22 Board of Education meeting, Business Manager Barbara Germany said the Illinois State Board of Education was willing to work with the district to defer payments toward the Fiscal 2010 transportation claim until after the Fiscal 2009 transportation claim was repaid.
Germany also stated on Jan. 22 that the state had not yet approved deferment of this year's payment toward the 2010 claim. The district is scheduled to pay $77,000 at the end of February if the payment is not deferred.
The goal of the district is to prevent the payments from overlapping and causing funding issues in the transportation fund.
If approved by the state, the district would extend its payments into fiscal years 2015 and 2016.
Also during Tuesday's meeting, Superintendent Susan Birkenmaier will present a draft of the five-year strategic plan.
The strategic planning process has been underway since December when the district began holding focus groups and forums comprised of district stakeholders. The goal was to determine what the focus and goals of the district should be moving forward.
The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. in Old Quarry Middle School's Learning Resource Center,16100 127th St.
