Susan Birkenmaier: COREMatters program to help with social skills
Fourth-graders at River Valley School anticipated the return of The COREMatters Project on Jan. 22.
The first visit from the program was such a huge success at River Valley School that they have brought back the 12-week program for their fourth-grade students. New children will have the opportunity to improve themselves with this program by working on their respect and resilience, with the outcome of the students gaining confidence, respect and an increase of physical ability.
The COREMatters Project focuses on helping children replace the misconception that bullying provides power, with a true understanding and feeling of self-respect and a raised awareness of compassion and respect for others. River Valley School has seen a great amount of improvements in its students’ actions and how they respond to certain situations, which is why the COREMatters Project will be a continuous program at River Valley School.
