GLEN ELLYN — Longtime disabilities advocate and Glen Ellyn resident Marjorie Sullivan Lee will appear with her son Kevin during a program on ABC Channel 7 Thursday.

Sullivan Lee is the author of the 2012 book “Bloom Where You Are Planted,” which discusses her experiences raising and advocating for her son with Down syndrome.

At 90 years old, Sullivan Lee has spent the last five decades searching for inclusion for Kevin both in the educational system and the community.

Through her book, she has been able to share the message that "life with Down syndrome is OK" with parents of children with Down syndrome and those in the community.

“I want to help others learn that people with cognitive disabilities want to be a part of — rather than apart from — the rest of the community,” Sullivan Lee said.

The segment will air between 11:30 a.m. and 12 noon.
