LOMBARD — After the final bow during, the audience from the Theater of Western Spring’s Jan. 17 production of “Sylvia” got to enjoy a little something extra.

Actor David Rodriguez of Lombard walked out on stage to join the rest of the cast, dropped to one knee and proposed to Jennifer Torchia, the actress who plays the role of Sylvia.

“I just wanted to send a heartfelt thank you to all who conspired to make David’s proposal last night happen,” Torchia wrote the next morning. “It was a perfect moment made even sweeter by being surrounded by you, my (Theater of Western Springs) friends and family. It was a wonderful surprise and now a great story. I couldn’t be happier.”
