Woodridge holding series of candidate forums for village election
WOODRIDGE —The Village of Woodridge will be hosting a four-part informational series for candidates that will be running for positions on the Woodridge Village Board during the April 9 General Election.
These sessions will take place from 6 to 7:30 p.m. and will occur on Jan. 10, Jan. 24, Feb. 28 and March 28.
Each session will cover a different topic as it relates to Village operations. The session on January 10th will cover Economic Development, Land Use, Code Enforcement, and Building and Zoning.
The purpose of the sessions is to ensure that candidates are well informed about the Village of Woodridge and are not intended as an opportunity to express viewpoints as previously reported. Candidates will have the opportunity to participate in a March 20 forum hosted by the League of Women Voters which will provide the opportunity for viewpoints to be expressed.
Four candidates have filed petitions to run for mayor to replace the retiring William Murphy. They include Greg Abbott, Gina Cunningham-Picek, Mike Krucek and Ferenc Vandor.
Six trustee candidates have filed to run for three board seats, including Pam Beavers, Susan Burtnette, Tim Goodwin, Joe Kagann, Joe Schager and Louis Wardin. Kagann, who filed to run for both offices, indicated this week that he has dropped his name for the mayor’s race, and will concentrate on re-election for his village board seat.
