OAK BROOK — The free annual Oak Brook winter carnival will take place at Central Park, 1450 Forest Gate Road, from 1 to 4 p.m. Feb. 10.
The main feature of the event in recent years has been a community-sponsored ice rink. The ice rink construction and maintenance is made possible by donations from local community groups and homeowners.
Jessica Cannaday, marketing manager for the Oak Brook Park District, said the district is doing what it can to get the ice rink up and running, but the weather has been less than cooperative for ice conditions with temperatures staying above freezing. A green flag outside of the rink indicates conditions are safe to skate, while a red flag indicates conditions are dangerous.
If the weather prevents an outdoor winter carnival, Cannaday said the district will still host indoor activities with games, music, entertainment, crafts and food inside Central Park West.
