Villa Park reminds residents of snow plowing procedures

As the weather gets colder and the chances for snowstorms increase, the Village of Villa Park has issued reminders to residents on snow removal and plowing procedures following winter storms.
The Public Works Department is responsible for plowing all public streets in the village, aside from North Avenue, Roosevelt Road and Route 83, which are all covered by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
After about 2 inches of snow fall, the Public Works crews will begin clearing the streets, beginning with arterial streets. Once snow removal begins, there will be no parking allowed on arterial streets until the storm has ended to ensure the snow is properly cleared. Cars parked on these main streets are subject to ticketing and towing.
To save money, the village no longer routinely salts secondary streets, and after-hour plowing of these streets will only be done after 4 inches of snow have fallen. Drivers are asked to use extra caution when driving along secondary streets in the village. All residents are located within two blocks of a main arterial street, which will be routinely plowed and salted.
Anyone with questions about the Village of Villa Park’s snow removal policy can contact the Public Works Department at (630) 834-8505.
