Renée Schuster: Students in District 181 off to good start this year
In Community Consolidated School District 181, we are off to a very strong start in the 2012-13 year. Our students have been learning, growing and enjoying all that a positive educational experience can bring.
In October, we held two Community Engagement events that welcomed parents, staff and residents. Together, we discussed our District 181 Values and Commitments and then focused our attention on advanced learning.
We also received input from more than 600 respondents via parent and community surveys that also focused on advanced learning, as well as communications, finances and technology. You can view the survey results, related presentations at our board meetings and my presentation podcast on our website (www.d181.org > About > Office of the Superintendent > Community Engagement). We extend our thanks to those who shared their input with us and we continue to welcome your feedback all year long.
On our website, you can also view our 2012 State Report Card results (www.d181.org > About > IL State Report Card). When comparing our results to those of school districts with 2,000 students or more, we are the No. 1 ranked school district in Illinois.
Our “SCORE” Goals for 2012-13 also under the “About” section of our website. They serve as a guide as we move strategically into the next part of our school year.
In this Thanksgiving season, I am grateful for the partnership of our community as we work toward our vision, to be a school district where all children experience success and grow in excellence.
