Lemont residents using online bill pay may see delay in water bill payment
The Village of Lemont is reporting delays in receiving water bill payments from residents if they use online bill pay through their bank due to the temporary move to Central School.
Due to the reconstruction of Village Hall, all mail has been forwarded to the temporary location at 410 McCarthy Road. Since the mail is being forwarded, it has sometimes taken 30 days to forward or the mail has been returned to sender.
For residents who use online bill pay through their bank, on the 15th of the month the bill will be paid and the bank will send the Village a check for payment.
The Village should receive this within five business days, which is in time for the due date. However, the Village is reporting there have been delays of up to 30 days due to mail forwarding, which will then put the bill past due.
To avoid a delay in payment processing, residents can sign up for Direct Debit to pay their water bill online through the village’s website, www.lemont.il.us
Another option for residents is to change the mailing address with their bank to send checks directly to 410 McCarthy Road. while the Village Hall remains under renovation.
