WHAT TO WATCH
Wheaton Academy has had a ton of success on the basketball court in recent years, to the tune of 70 wins over the past three seasons.
Don’t look for that trend to end anytime soon even as the Warriors have had to replace top-level talent.
This time around, it is the production of Cameron Harvey that will be missed. The Eastern Illinois recruit was the team’s leading scorer a year ago.
“We are excited about this group,” said coach Paul Ferguson. “I think we will have a very balanced scoring attack. And we are now focusing on becoming a great defensive team. That is our biggest area of growth.”
Wheaton Academy does bring back some experience, starting with senior guard Collin Roy. Fellow seniors Cole Fritz and Gabe Partain are also back along with 6-foot-8 center Gordon Behr, who looks to be a force in the paint.
Sophomores Evan Williams, Anthony Lombardo and Josh Ruggles could have an immediate impact while the Warriors should also receive a boost from senior Brandon Ruggles, who sat our last year after transferring from Wheaton Warrenville South.
Goals for the Warriors include winning their fourth consecutive conference championship. Wheaton Academy also got invited to the prestigious Proviso West tournament over the Christmas holiday.
