Courageous Bakery: Home of Cupcakes for Courage now open in Elmhurst
The Elmhurst brick-and-mortar location for the popular cupcake food truck, Cupcakes for Courage, opened Monday at 108 W. Park Ave.
The bakery is the new home base for owner Laura Pekaric's business.
She formerly baked her cupcakes in Brain Freeze, next door, and loaded them on her food truck, the "green machine," which she would take to downtown Chicago.
The store front allows her to have a full retail bakery operation in Elmhurst, and her own kitchen to bake the cupcakes for the truck.
Like the cupcake truck business she started when her sister was diagnosed with non-Hodgkins T-cell Lymphoma in 2010, 10 percent of sales will go to lymphoma charities, she said.
Hours are 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. Fridays and 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturdays.
It is closed on Sundays.
