Downers Grove online bike survey ends Aug. 3

Downers Grove is gathering feedback to incorporate into a plan to improve safety and enhance opportunities to travel in the village by bike or on foot.

Consultant Sam Schwartz Engineering has formulated a bike and pedestrian survey available online through Aug. 3. To take the survey, visit www.surveymonkey.com/s/DGBikePedPlan.

The Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning awarded a grant to the village in August 2011 to update its existing Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan.

The three main objectives of the plan are: to develop a comprehensive biking and walking network, to increase safety throughout the village by developing a public education and outreach plan, and to market bicycling and walking throughout the community as viable transportation options.

A draft of the new plan is scheduled to be presented in October.
