Lines at gas stations, liquor and convenience stores are out the doors today as hundreds of hopefuls purchase tickets for tonight’s Illinois Lottery Mega Millions Jackpot, which is currently set at $640 million, the highest prize in history.

At Punky’s Pub in Lombard, lottery players speculated about how they would spend their millions if they match the five winning numbers and the gold “Mega Ball” number.

Randy Albert, of Lombard, said the first thing he’d do with the prize money is pay off his house and set some aside for his children.

“They’d be the only ones with my phone number,” he said.

After that, he said he expects there would be lots of down time, as he sat around dreaming of other ways to use the money.

A tropical vacation is the first purchase that Tye Wardern, of Aurora, would make if he won big in tonight’s drawing. He said he would take his millions, head for the Caribbean and buy a sailboat.

He doesn’t know how to sail, he admitted, but he’d just hire a captain and crew to help.

The estimated take-home prize, after taxes, is about $390 million. The drawing will be live on WGN at 10 p.m.

Tickets can be purchased online through today.
