New grocery store coming to Elmhurst's north side

Elmhurst, IL

The former Elmhurst Ford dealership on York Street will soon be the site of a new Mariano's Fresh Market grocery, Elmhurst Mayor Pete DiCianni announced at Monday's city council meeting.

Mariano's Fresh Market is a local chain with five existing locations in the Chicago area, the first opening in Arlington Heights in 2010, and its newest store in Palatine, according to its website.

In addition to groceries, Mariano’s also offers amenities including an Italian coffee shop serving authentic gelato, a wood-fired pizza oven, and sit down sushi bar, and a full-service pharmacy.

DiCianni did not say when the Elmhurst location is planned to open, and added that the project would likely include some financial incentives from the city.
