Berwyn man arrested in drug bust

Berwyn, IL


Francis X. Golniewics, 20, of the 7100 block of 31st Street, was arrested at 1:30 p.m. Friday after a search warrant turned up 62 grams of marijuana and a fully loaded .32 caliber semi-automatic pistol at his home, police said.

According to police reports, the marijuana was bagged into small amounts and ready for street sale, and Golniewicz is an admitted member of an area street gang.

He has since been charged with unlawful possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and unlawful use of a weapon.

The charges are the result of an extensive and ongoing investigation by the West Suburban Directed Gang Enforcement (WEDGE) Task Force, which combines the efforts of many west suburban Cook County police forces.
