The Kane County Board voted Tuesday to approve Mike McCoy as the county’s representative on the Metra Board.
McCoy, an Aurora native, is a former chairman of the Kane County Board.
In May, Kane County Chairman Karen McConnaughay asked all 11 members of the Metra board of directors to resign in light of “tumult” over the past year, including the apparent suicide of Metra Executive Director Phil Pagano and his “significant financial improprieties.”
McCoy was chosen out of a list of 41 applicants.
A full list of applicants are available here.
The Metra board has a broad range of responsibilities, including changes to fare and service levels, budgeting, and long-range planning. Metra’s proposed 2011 budget is $634.2 million for operations and $407.5 million for capital expenses.
Currently, the Metra post pays $25,000 a year.
