Saturday night Batavia crash leaves one seriously injured

Geneva, IL

An Aurora man was transported to Rush University Medical Center in Chicago after a vehicle crash on Route 25 near Bond St. in Batavia Township at about 7:45 p.m.

Anton Ayyad, 24, of the 1800 block of N. Farnsworth Ave., Aurora, was first rushed to Mercy Center Hospital in Aurora with life threatening injuries, police said.

According to the Kane County Sheriff's police report, Ayyad's 2009 Chevy Colbalt was traveling south on Route 25 when it crossed into the northbound lane of traffic and struck a 2002 GMC Yukon head on.

The Yukon had four occupants, and three including the driver were transported to the Mercy Hospital with minor injuries. A fourth passenger did not need medical attention, police said.

Route 25 was closed until about 10 p.m. Saturday as police investigated the crash. The Sheriff’s Office and the Kane County Accident Reconstruction Team are continuing the investigation. No arrests have been made and no citations have been issued. Sheriff’s Investigators have not ruled out alcohol or drugs being a factor in this crash.
